Dr. Thuy La received a Bachelor’s Degree, with honors, in Science Education, majoring in Biology & Chemistry, from Hanoi University of Pedagogy No. 2, Xuan Hoa, Vinh Phuc, Vietnam. She was offered a full scholarship by the Ford Foundation International Fellowship Program (IFP) to attend the University of Hawaii, U.S., and earned a Master of Arts in Educational Administration in 2005. She was awarded a scholarship from the East West Center, U.S., and received her PhD degree in Educational Administration in 2009.
She has over 16 years of working experience in classroom teaching, educational research, curriculum consultancy, and professional training for educational leaders and teachers. She taught Biology and Chemistry at the Lao Cai Ethnic Boarding High School, Vietnam; and conducted educational research and teacher professional development at the Curriculum Research & Development Group, College of Education, University of Hawaii, U.S. She has also mentored graduate students in research activities, and participated as a School-Community Council member.
After completing her graduate studies and post-doctoral training in the U.S., Dr. Thuy La returned to Vietnam in 2011, and began lecturing at the University of Social Science and Humanity, Vietnam National University. She also contributed as a research fellow at the Institute for Research on Educational Development in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Her passion and leadership caught the attention of KinderWorld Group, Vietnam, and she subsequently accepted the position of Manager of Academic Operations (Integrated Program); initiating a concurrent role as Cambridge Program Leader. In these capacities, she developed and managed the national academic affairs of the integrated program in the Singapore International School system. Dr. Thuy La was instrumental in the development and delivery of teacher Professional Development (PD) workshops; and created plans for their long-term implementation.
Dr. Thuy La is now the Founder and Principal Consultant at EduWorld Consulting LLC in Florida, U.S.A. Her company’s goals are to provide quality consultancy services to educational organizations; to conduct research, to teach, and to help create schools that offer quality education for all children. She believes in school systems that embrace learning communities where parents, students, educators and community members are engaged in two common goals: to help children maximize their potential, and to have fun in learning.
